While respecting the traditional behavior and appearance of snow clogs, “TEGU” has been reconstructed with modern technology and goyemon's sensibility, and is completed as footwear for a new era.
The heel is equipped with an adjuster belt that is a modern sublimation of the structure of the “geta clasp” that once tied the geta to the foot. The buckle design makes it smooth to put on and take off, while at the same time providing a stable hold that firmly secures the foot.
In addition, the heel of the belt is equipped with a supporter made of ultrasuede® material, which gently wraps around the heel to provide a comfortable and secure fit even with bare feet.
The sole uses the “DUAL sole” newly developed by goyemon this season. In addition to the visual impact of the three-dimensional overhang, it also enhances cushioning and stability when walking and provides sneaker-like comfort.
“ unda ”
Japanese design firm goyemon has reinterpreted the traditional woven bamboo sandal, the “Setta“, and introduced modern technology to make them more comfortable to wear.
Invented in the 16th century, the setta is meant to be worn under poor weather conditions. Attached to the sole of the traditional footwear is a layer of leather which helps to keep the feet away from puddles and snow. Dubbed “Unda,” the modernized version features cushioned footbeds and midsole bubble units serving to buffer the strain from walking while logo-appliqued tags detail the heels.
