The “Nikoku-hanao” is seen on traditional Setta (Japanese sandals). Inspired by this design, in which two nose-straps are placed parallel to each other, the “unda DUAL” is a modern update. The “unda DUAL” is a pair characterized by its double-structured nose-strap and three-dimensional sole design.
The eye-catching feature is the double-structured snout that combines different materials. The inside is made of PU suede, which is soft against the skin, not only to enhance the design, but also to provide a comfortable fit and hold to the foot.
The stable comfort supported by the two noses brings a new sensation that has never existed in unda before.
The midsole, which supports the foot, adopts the new “DUAL sole” structure that boldly extends from the conventional form. By expanding three-dimensionally, a sense of visual volume is added, adding a sneaker-like presence to the foot. Of course, goyemon's unique cushioning is still in place, providing a comfortable and secure choice for both city walking and long-distance travel.
Another detail that symbolizes this model is the “overlapping pisname. The double piece name on the left and right heels is a design accent that embodies the name “DUAL.

Japanese design firm goyemon has reinterpreted the traditional woven bamboo sandal, the “Setta“, and introduced modern technology to make them more comfortable to wear.
Invented in the 16th century, the setta is meant to be worn under poor weather conditions. Attached to the sole of the traditional footwear is a layer of leather which helps to keep the feet away from puddles and snow. Dubbed “Unda,” the modernized version features cushioned footbeds and midsole bubble units serving to buffer the strain from walking while logo-appliqued tags detail the heels.
